Treasure Island or Parrots of the Caribbean

by Robert Louis Stevenson
adapted by Chris Pickles

13 December 2007 – 13 January 2008

King’s Head Theatre

Hidden Pearl Productions presents The Company of Actors in Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island, the classic tale of pirates, treachery and adventure, re-invented as a surreal physical comedy. Audience participation, mayhem and mirth as The Company of Actors romp their whacky way towards Captain Flint’s buried treasure.

Reviews

Treasure Island is entertaining and utterly compelling from the moment the five performers burst into the theatre; filling every area of the traverse stage, and every moment of the story with energy and wit. My face hurt from laughing so much.

Pickles grabs gags of a cartoon consistency where he can, and the more ridiculous and irreverent of them work beautifully. So too does the show’s sense of danger. Asa Joel handles his slew of parts manfully, and Rafe Beckley is a real find as gnarled, salty seadogs, Flint and Silver.
